OUTH CHARLESTON -- When temperatures start climbing above 90 degrees outside, air conditioners become hot sellers inside.
"My old air conditioner's not working," said one shopper looking for a new one at Lowe's Home Improvement store at the Shops at Trace Fork in South Charleston.
People are looking not only for a cool answer to their hot situation, but convenience, too. While window units work just as well, portable air conditioners are quickly disappearing off store shelves.
"That's because I can move that room to room a lot easier," said another man looking over a portable unit.
"If you're going to, say, use it in your living room during the day and you're going to put it in your bedroom at night, this is on wheels. You just take this out of the window, roll it down the hallway, set it up on the window. You know, five minutes -- you're done," said Scott Morrison, assistant store manager at the Lowe's store.
It still needs to be near a window, but mobility is the big seller.
