Fort Parker: John Wayne Takes Over Fort Parker

FORT PARKER (June 3, 2011)- The Alamo Drafthouse may screen famous movies in famous places every year with their Rolling Roadshow, but this year, the showcase has a Texas twist.
An all-Texas lineup was decided after Texas Monthly arranged a team of "experts" to decide on the 10 greatest movies about Texas.

The first stop was at Fort Parker, where the John Ford, John Wayne vehicle "The Searchers" was screened.
Residents brought blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the screening, which took place in the historic Fort Parker site.
The road show will also screen "Bonnie & Clyde" at the First National Bank in Pilot Point, "Giant" at Paisano Hotel in Marfa, and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at the house where it was filmed in Kingsland.
