Citizens Bank early Thursday restored service to its online banking, which had plagued customers with intermittent or no access since about 3 p.m. Wednesday.Spokeswoman Pamela Wigley said no security breach was detected, but Citizens was still not clear this morning what caused the temporary interruption of service. The bank still processed all customer transactions on time, she said.
Wigley could not immediately say how many customers encountered difficulty or how many online customers the bank has.
Citizens Bank is the second-largest bank in Western Pennsylvania, with 127 area branches. It operates a total of 1,520 branches in 12 states.
