Reese (Finally!) Confront the Elephant in the Room
0 comments Tuesday, 7 June 2011 There's been plenty of buzz about what will and what won't go down tomorrow night at MTV's star studded Movie Awards—tho, mostly folks wonder if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will nab another Best Kiss Award and finally smooch onstage—but we do know one thing for sure:
Reese Witherspoon will walk home with the Generation Award for her work in a bunch of pretty good movies—including her most recent flick Water for Elephants—and lots of good PR over the years.
So we gotta wonder: Is R.W. going to make any mention about the reported abuse of her costar? And no, we're not talking about R.Pattz...

We're talking about Tai, who played the elephant the friggin' film is named after—so you think she'd get some respect, right?

Afternoon Bitch-Back! Are ScarPenn a Match Made in Vice Heaven
0 comments
Dear Ted:Am I alone in the conviction that ScarPenn is a match made in heaven and that these two are in it for the long haul? I'm basing my conviction on two things: I think their respective Blind Vices are a major turn on for these two (for real!). And second, they just look so damn hot together! Also it seems like Scarlett Johansson's got the bite and sass needed for an ego like Sean Penn's. Sorta like...Madonna. What do you think?
—Hanna
Dear Match in Hell:
I thought ScarPenn were perfect for each other! What happened?! Sorry to break it to you, darling, but looks like ScarPenn may already be finito. While the naughty duo's Blind Vices may have attracted these two to each other, it may have been Sean's wandering ways pushed them apart. Guess even ScarPenn needed a bit more stability.
Dear Ted:
I'm your biggest fan in Greece and I've converted many of my friends who now read your column every day. I'm usually really bad at guessing the stars of your Blind Vices but I think I've nailed Cookie Muncher. She has to be Elisabetta Canalis, right? I know you said Cookie is married, but I think that's just Ted speak to confuse us more. Kisses from Greece and I'm still waiting for you to come vacation in my island, Santorini. You'll have a great time, for sure!
Happy 36th Birthday, Angelina Jolie!
0 commentsguy who looks like Brad Pitt, six kids, a sweet gig with the United Nations, and a movie about talking animals in theaters right now. What more could any woman want on her birthday?
Angelina Jolie turns 36 today, and let's talk about somebody who has everything.
So instead of racking our brains thinking of the perfect gift (All of Egypt? Oops, she's got that, too!), we'll just send Ms. Jolie our best wishes in handy blog-post format.
No word yet on how the supermom's celebrating today, but she does have a thing for pirate-themed kids parties. So maybe Johnny Depp's on his way over with wigs and hook hands?
Anyway, what would you get Angie for her 36th?

The wife of "Ice Road Truckers" star Gregory Boadwine tells TMZ the incident that led to Gregory's arrest this week was "not as violent" as it was made out to be ... and she stands by him 100%.As TMZ first reported, Boadwine was arrested early Friday morning in Florida after an alleged altercation with his wife Crystal. According to the report, Boadwine (who was on season four of the show) grabbed her by the throat and shoved her into a door.Crystal tells us she was not the one that called the Sheriff's Department -- her ex-husband did. She says the ex did so because of what her 9-year-old son saw, but says the kid "didn't see the entire incident nor understands completely what was going on." She says very clearly, "I am not in fear of my husband, nor is he in fear of me."Boadwine himself tells TMZ the argument was heated, but never physical, and that the son was in the next room at the time. Boadwine was released from jail yesterday and is scheduled to meet with Child Protective Services on Monday.Ice Road Trucker Arrested For Alledged Wife Beating
0 comments(TMZ) One of the new drivers featured on the History Channel show "Ice Road Truckers" was arrested in for allegedly beating up his wife ... in front of her 9-year-old son.

The fight finally came to an end when Greg's wife's 9-year-old son screamed at the couple to "Stop fighting" ... and the couple obliged.

Jonathan Storm: Talk show, ABC News for Couric
0 commentsThe ex-CBS News anchor gets a 3 p.m. weekday slot in 2012 and joins the news team this summer.
By Jonathan Storm
Katie Couric will be getting a 3 p.m. weekday talk show on big-city ABC stations in September 2012, and she will join ABC News this summer, in a deal announced by Disney/ABC Monday. Couric, 54, will appear on all ABC News programs and platforms, the company said, and will "anchor specials, contribute interviews, [and] participate in special events coverage." Diane Sawyer will remain as anchor of the flagship ABC World News.Disney will syndicate Couric's talk show, executive-produced by former NBC boss and longtime Couric crony Jeff Zucker, which means it would be sold around the country to station groups and local independent stations, which could air it whenever they want. But ABC-owned stations, including Philadelphia's 6ABC, serving about a quarter of American viewers, will schedule it at 3 p.m.
Editorial: Engadget on iCloud and iTunes Match
0 commentsToday, Steve Jobs revealed a great many things, but the biggest bombshell was this -- Apple's iCloud, which promises to sync all your content, automatically, even wirelessly, to Apple's new server farms... for free. All that processing power in the picture above can't have been cheap, and multiplied by the entirety of those data centers... well, let's just say it's a heck of a promise and we've got somewhat mixed feelings about how it'll play out. Hit the break to see what we thought of Apple's play for cloud storage.
The Unlikely Breakout Stars of WWDC: Two Podcasters From the U.K.
0 commentsTwo energetic young video podcasters from the U.K. filled in the gaps when Apple didn’t provide a live video stream of its WWDC keynote today, where it debuted updated software for Mac and iOS and a new cloud storage service.
Broadcasting on Ustream under the channel “AppleLiveKeynotes,” John Coles and Joe de Max served as keynote DJs, switching between blurry video feeds that were often shut down mid-stream, audio feeds, and even desktop screencasts of the Engadget liveblog when they had to. Coles and de Max interjected their own comments–mostly oohs and ahs–with ongoing we’re-all-fanboys-in-this-together repartee with their commenters (a.k.a. “Don’t tell me to hurry up!”).

0 commentsA collection of console emulators, including N64oid, Nesoid and Snesoid, have been removed from the Android Market. HotHardware and Engadget both report that the -oid series developer, Yong Zhang, has also lost his Android Market developer account.
Although emulators have cleared various legal challenges in the past, most commercial application stores — including Apple’s App Store — ban emulators unless the packaged ROMs are specifically licensed.
Until recently, Google has seemingly turned a blind eye toward emulators, allowing users to sell emulators for virtually every classic console or old-school PC platform. That started to change in April, when Google removed the PSX4Droid emulator from the Android Market. The removal of PSX4Droid from the Android Market was suspect, especially given Sony’s announcement of the Xperia Play Android phone, which can download and play many classic PlayStation One games.

i-FlashDrive lets you quickly share files between PC and iPhone
0 commentsOur sister site Engadget has discovered a must have accessory if you're constantly finding yourself wanting to share files between your iPhone and PCs. PhotoFast's i-FlashDrive features a USB 2.0 port on one end and an Apple 30-pin dock connector on the other. Plug the USB drive into your PC or Mac and drag any files onto it just as you would with a normal thumb drive. When you're done, simply plug the drive into your iPhone's dock connector and use the Apple-approved app to move copy the files to your iPhone.
I know, you can just use iTunes to sync files or drag and drop files to certain apps, right? What makes i-FlashDrive so handy is for those times when you want to copy files between a computer and iPhone and you don't own one of those devices. For example, you might be in a business meeting and want a copy of a 100 MB Keynote presentation a colleague has on his MacBook, but all you've got on you is your iPhone. Simply use the i-FlashDrive to copy the file from the MacBook and then plug it into your iPhone and copy it from the drive.
i-FlashDrive won't be available in the US until July and it will come in sizes ranging from 4 GB to 32 GB with prices from US$95 to $180.

Veterans of D-Day invasion gather in Bedford

BEDFORD -- On June 6, 1944, coxswain Don Englar, U.S. Navy, steered the Higgins Boat landing craft loaded with about 35 men toward Omaha Beach. The 18-year-old made four such trips that day -- ferrying troops to the killing field where several of the Bedford Boys and so many other soldiers died on D-Day. He

Marine Corps veterans salute as wreaths are placed at the National D-Day Memorial on Monday.
"The first trip in was the worst," Englar said Monday, the 67th anniversary of the invasion that opened a new major offensive against German forces in Europe.
"My gunner who was right beside me was cut in half. His body, what was left of it, toppled over into the sea," he said. "He was a good friend of mine, too."
Shrapnel sheared off half of Englar's left ear and nearly ended his life. He gestured toward his neck. "A corpsman reached in there with his hand and saved my life by squeezing on a blood vessel."
